Ulli Wegner
Hans -Ullrich ( Ulli ) Wegner ( born April 26, 1942 in Szczecin ) is a German boxing trainer and former amateur boxer.
Life
Ulli Wegner grew up in East Germany and learned there the boxes. In a total of 176 amateur fights he boxed from 1961 to 1963 for the ASK forward Rostock, 1963-1964 for the SC Turbine Erfurt and from 1964 until the end of his active career for the BSG Gera bismuth. As Active Wegner could be repeatedly district champion and celebrated his biggest success in 1970 when he was with bismuth Gera DDR team champion.
Directly following his active time he was 1971 first coach of the BSG, two years later, the SG bismuth Gera emerged from the. Between 1974 and 1979, Wegner worked as Sichtungstrainer the district Gera. From 1979 to 1990 he trained at the Berlin TSC. After the turn Wegner took over in 1991 the position as national coach of the national training center of the Berlin DABV in boxing association and still leads in the same year Sven Ottke to his first European Championship. In his career as an amateur coach, he won his charges around 150 medals at Olympic Games, World and European Championships and the World Military Championships, including 65 title wins. Last won in 1996 Oktay Urkal Silver and Thomas Ulrich a bronze medal in Atlanta.
By Wilfried Sauerland Wegner was eventually convinced to switch to the professional. The change was made after the Atlanta Olympics. Since then, Wegner trained in boxing stable Sauerland up to ten boxers. As a professional coach, he made Sven Ottke and Markus Beyer, he brought to the professional, and Arthur Abraham, Yoan Pablo Hernandez, Cecilia Braekhus and Marco Huck to title-holders of the World Association. Torsten May, Oktay Urkal, Karo Murat, Marco Huck and Eduard Gutknecht were European champions under his coach shaft.
Wegner is married and has three children. Since 2004, Wegner lives with his wife in Berlin- Tegel. Since the parliamentary elections in September 2006 Ulli Wegner is also politically active for his residential district Reinickendorf. For the CDU, he is the Technical Committee of the District Assembly of the Sports Committee worked and was involved in the election campaign in 2011 with poster designs for the CDU. 2010 Wegner was awarded for his contribution to the overall German sport and its social commitment, the Federal Cross of Merit. 2011 in the town of Usedom, a new sports hall was opened, which was named after Wegner.
