Ulrich S. Schubert

Ulrich Sigmar Schubert ( born July 17, 1969 in Tübingen) is Professor of Organic and Macromolecular Chemistry, Friedrich-Schiller - University Jena. He is also Chairman of the Cultural and Social Foundation International Young Orchestra Academy ( IJOA ) and artistic director of the Bayreuth Easter Festival.

Life

His musical education he received as a clarinetist in Frankfurt, Richmond and Tampa ( both USA). Chamber music courses led him to the Abegg Trio, Hagen Quartet, Amadeus Quartet, Prof. Jan Doormann and Prof. Francois Benda. He has performed in Europe and the United States.

In 1993 he founded the concert series " Forum of Young Musicians " in Bayreuth, which since then performs chamber music concerts at the Mark Opernhaus Bayreuth. A year later, he founded the International Young Orchestra Academy ( IJOA ) together with Andreas Goeldel, August Ever thing and Sir Charles Mackerras. In 1995 he founded the Bayreuth Easter Festival to life.

From 2000 to 2007, Schubert was Chair of Macromolecular Chemistry and Nanoscience at the Eindhoven University of Technology and a member of the management team of the Dutch Polymer Institute ( DPI). Since the summer semester 2007, he has held the Chair of Organic and Macromolecular Chemistry at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and is Scientific Chairman of the range HTE in the Dutch Polymer Institute.

Ulrich Schubert studied chemistry and biochemistry in Frankfurt, Bayreuth and Richmond, Virginia, received his doctorate in Bayreuth and his Habilitation in Munich. His research focus is on the macro - and supramolecular chemistry, which produces new materials with potential applications, among others in medicine, optics and biosciences.

From Schubert submitted more than 530 publications, two books, two textbooks, and 18 patents.
