Ulzigerode is a district of the town Arnstein in the district of Mansfeld- South Harz in Saxony- Anhalt.

Geography

Ulzigerode located on the eastern edge of the Harz about 12 km south-west of Aschersleben. The site extends over the three valleys of Schwenningen corner, the Little Mukarehne and Mukarehne.

History

The place was a descendant of the " Olzo " due to the clearing by a certain " Oldarich " was mentioned in a charter of Emperor Charles V in the 16th century for the first time. The village belonged to the " Knigg'schen office Arnstein to Endorf " in the former Saxon county of Mansfeld.

On January 1, 2010, the formerly independent communities Ulzigerode, Alterode, Bräunrode, Pommern, Harkerode, Quenstedt, Stangerode, Sylda and Welbsleben and the city Sandersleben (Anhalt) merged to form the new town Arnstein. The administrative community Wipper - A, one of the Ulzigerode, was dissolved.
