Unicomp is a manufacturer of computer keyboards and accessories made Lexington, Kentucky.
Description
The company was founded in April 1996, when the license and the machinery for the buckling -spring keyboard technology ( the technology behind the famous IBM Model M keyboards and similar ) was purchased from Lexmark.
Unicomps product range is based mainly on the last IBM / Lexmark Model M-design and daraufaufsetzenden modifications and modernizations. For example, the model Unicomp Customizer 101 an exact copy of the IBM 42H1292, a late variant of the Model M with fixed cable and drain holes for spilled drinks out which is made on the original machines. As a user- specific modifications Unicomp offers on many keyboard layouts. As modernization of the Model- M Designs keyboards with USB interface and Windows, Apple or Linux keys are offered.
Furthermore Unicomp sells spare parts for IBM / Lexmark Model M keyboards and offers repair services for models from our own manufacture. Almost all products are manufactured in the USA at the factory Lexington. With the exception of the value Plus/SK-720C and SK -7500 wireless, which are manufactured by Silitek, a subsidiary of Lite-On in the Far East.
The Unicomp keyboards are marketed worldwide directly through an in-house web shop or by telephone.
Reception
The mid-2000s spoke some recipients in threads related to the Unicomp buckling spring keyboards of a (small ) comeback of high quality Model -M keyboards.
