Unit 4 2

Unit 4 2 were a British rock band in the mid- 60s was mainly due to the hit " Concrete and Clay " in England and the USA quite well known and today enjoys cult status.

The band was founded in 1963 in Hertfordshire by Peter Moules, David Meikle, Howard Lubin and Thomas Moeller as "Unit 4". You first played folk music, oriented themselves quickly to rock. As short time later they were joined by two other members of the group, we changed the band name for simplicity in "Unit 4 2 ".

Beginning of 1964 was released the first single " Green Fields ", which, however, only mediocre sold (UK number 48 ). The big success came with "Concrete and Clay ", 28 (5/ 65) in the U.S. reached court and in England # 3 on the hit parade (2/ 65) managed. In addition, the board of radio stations around the world was played. The follow-up single "You've never been in love like this before " reached in England still quite good prices, came under the "Top Twenty" and reached number 14

On their first LP "Unit 4 2 " There were both folk -oriented songs like " Cotton Fields " and "La Bamba " and Merseybeat influences ( Could not keep it to myself or Boy from New York City). In essence they were a folk group of the 1960s, which had acquired amplifier.

Since 1966 there have been several member changes in the group then finally fell apart in 1968. Inter alia also included Russ Ballard and Bob Henrit (both later in Argent ) temporarily so.

The song "Concrete and Clay " reached 1976 in a cover version by Randy Edelman # 11 in the UK and in 1986 by Hong Kong syndicate in Germany again front hit parade positions.
