United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Sierra Leone

United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Sierra Leone (United Nations Peacebuilding in Sierra Leone or short UNIPSIL German Integrated Office ) was the continuation of the use of the peacekeeping mission UNIOSIL, United Nations Integrated Office for Sierra Leone. The seat of the office was the capital of Sierra Leone, Freetown. This office was based on two different UN missions: UNIOSIL and UNIPSIL.

History

On 4 August 2008 the United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 1829 (2008 ), and thus the establishment of UNIPSIL mission, which is the successor to the UNIOSIL mission. October 1, 2008 UNIOSIL was transferred to a reduced " Integrated Peacebuilding Office " ( UNIPSIL ), which was initially mandated by the UN Security Council by the summer of 2009. After the mission was renewed on September 15, 2009 by Resolution 1886 (2009 ) of the UN Security Council for a year, she finally expired on 30 September 2010.

Tasks

The mission is to assist the Government of Sierra Leone and politically stabilize. Among the new tasks included the consolidation of good governance in Sierra Leone. Here, the agency should concentrate according to the UN, especially the fight against corruption and the decentralization of the country.
