United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali

The Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission of the United Nations in Mali (French: Mission multidimensional nelle intégrée des Nations Unies pour la stabilization au Mali; MINUSMA ) is a peace mission of the United Nations, in which the African led stabilization mission AFISMA has risen from 1 July 2013. It was established by decision of the UN Security Council in 2100 of 25 April 2013. Goal is to stabilize the state of Mali after the operation Serval. The mandate is initially limited to one year from 1 July 2013.

On 31 July 2013, the strength of the MINUSMA - quota 5,494 soldiers and 800 policemen was.

German participation

On 27 June 2013, the German Bundestag voted in favor of German participation in the MINUSMA up to 150 soldiers. Currently, the German armed forces involved in the provision of transport aircraft C-160 Transall D from the countries bordering Mali and within Mali. Base of the aircraft is Dakar, Senegal, led by a lieutenant colonel. In addition, Germany is a tanker aircraft of the type Airbus A310 MRTT in a 96- hour stand-by and is a support of the mission MINUSMA available. Overall, around 67 soldiers to support the mission in action. In February 2014, the German Defence Minister von der Leyen visited the German contingent in Mali.
