United Nations Security Council Resolution 751

Resolution 751 of the UN Security Council on 24 April 1992, deals with - drawn by civil war and famine - the situation in Somalia and includes the authorization of the peace mission UNOSOM.

The resolution refers to the foregoing Resolutions 733 and 746 and to the report of the Secretary-General dated 21 and 24 April. They welcomed the signing of a ceasefire agreement in Mogadishu on 3 March and authorized the deployment of the United Nations Operation in Somalia I - consisting of 50 observers and security forces - up to monitor. There is a committee of the Security Council used to monitor the implementation of the measures imposed by Resolution 733 arms embargo on Somalia. Furthermore, the appreciation of the Security Council for the humanitarian organizations working in Somalia and for cooperation with the Arab League, the Organisation of African Unity (OAU ) and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC ) is expressed. All states are called upon to support humanitarian assistance in Somalia.

The resolution was unanimously at its 3069th meeting, adopted by the Security Council of the United Nations.
