United States Congress Joint Economic Committee

The Joint Economic Committee is a joint committee of the U.S. Congress. Sitting in his ten members of the Senate and House of Representatives, whose job it is to provide information on the economic situation of the United States and to formulate recommendations for improvement.

The Committee was created after the Great Depression and the Second World War, together with the Council of Economic Advisers as part of the Employment Act. The Committee has no legislative functions or sub-committees.

Members

Of the 20 members are currently (2011) ten Democrats and ten Republicans. The chairmanship rotates every two years between a Senator and a Representative. The current chairman is Senator Bob Casey of Pennsylvania.
