The Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais ( UFMG ) ( German: Federal University of Minas Gerais ) is a Brazilian public university in Belo Horizonte. There it was founded on September 7, 1927. The University, the fifth largest in the country, is considered one of the most prestigious universities throughout Brazil, and as the best university in the state of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte is located in the. Outside its headquarters in Belo Horizonte, the UFMG University building in Montes Claros, Diamantina, Tiradentes and in Conselheiro Lafaiete. Around 40,000 students are enrolled at the UFMG.
