The University of Insubria (Italian: Università degli Studi dell'Insubria ) is a public university with approximately 9,000 students and locations in the cities of Lombardy Varese and Como.

The University of Insubria goes back to a Faculty of Medicine, University of Pavia, and was founded on 14 July 1998. Your name is derived from the historical region of Insubria, which today comprises roughly the province of Como, the province of Varese and the Swiss canton of Ticino. The University is divided into five faculties and in addition to Pavia with the University of Milan for close cooperation in higher education. Rector of the University is Prof. Renzo Dionigi.
