Unterägeri and Lake 2010

Unterägeri is a municipality in the canton train in Switzerland.

Geography

Unterägeri located at the western end of the Aegerisee ( water level: 724m above sea level) along the Lorze River, southeast of the city train. The old village (Upper Village ) is located at the foot of the Wilerberg, something moved away from the lake outlet, on the old road from train to Schwyz ( main road 381 ). The village has developed since the mid-20th century residential area to a large extent working in the nearby urban agglomerations population.

Waters

The Aegerisee located in Ägerital and borders course of Unterägeri. From Hürital back comes the Hüribach and flows into the lake and the Birkenwäldli it flows as Lorze back from the lake.

The Aegerisee is now the only Swiss waters, where the tradition of rafting is still alive. In indeterminate intervals - but usually every three years - that tradition is celebrated with a big Flösserfest. Nature lovers, tourists and wood professionals from all over Switzerland and neighboring countries come into Ägerital to witness the rare hard with its many attractions and cultural highlights.

History

The municipality Unterägeri has only existed since 1798. History of Unterägeri, formerly called Wilägeri or Wilen, but starts earlier.

Traces of human settlement is the Aegerital can be traced back to about 2000 BC in the Neolithic period. Place and field names, as well as isolated archaeological finds provide evidence of the earliest inhabitants. In the 6th century the invading from the north to Switzerland Alemanni settled the Ägerital. The Ägerital changed in the sequence a few times the owner and one of the parts Dame Cathedral cloister in Zurich, the monastery Einsiedeln and the Habsburgs.

On 15 November 1315 Habsburg troops train moved out of the Ägerital up against the Confederates. In Morgarten on Aegerisee finally came to the battle of Morgarten, which ended in a crushing defeat of the Habsburgs. 1352 occurred in city and department train and thus the Ägerital the Confederation, but only at the end of the 17th century were the people from the Ägerital free of all Habsburg and monastic property claims. It was followed by the ecclesiastical and political detachment Unterägeris of Oberägeri. Therefore, a church was built according to plans by Ferdinand Stadler in 1856.

In the 19th century came to Unterägeri industrialization, which took advantage of the water power of the Lorze. With industrialization and the population rose sharply. The development of Unterägeri a spa resort in the late 19th century offset the onset of the slow decline of the industry. After the Second World War, after a long stagnation, an erratic population growth, so that has doubled the population of Unterägeri in the second half of the 20th century.
