History

The Unterberg Arena was built in 1989 under the name of sports facility Grödig. With the desired rise of SV Grödig in the first league in the 2007/ 08 season also came with the title in the Regionalliga West, an adaptation of the old system was required to meet the necessary requirements of the Bundesliga, the for clubs second division about 1,000 seats prescribes.

After initially a tubular steel stand was set up as a makeshift, 2007, work began on a new grandstand. This was built between main pitch and the training ground and connected by a walkway to the old club building. Visually, the new building in the colors of SV Grödig ( blue / white) was held, as the lettering adorns SV Grödig the rows of seats.

After the renovation work in 2008 found on the covered grandstand 310 spectators individually numbered seating space. In addition, the facility has 1890 standing places. During the winter break of 2010/11 a further grandstand for 755 spectators was built on the east side of the arena, the parts of this stand are from the remote again after the Euro 2008 press gallery of the EM Stadion Salzburg. Thus, the Unterberg Arena since January 2011 offers space for 2955 visitors. In the catacombs are the office, a fan shop and dressing rooms. Around the stadium there are about 500 parking spaces.

After promotion to the Bundesliga in the summer of 2013, the arena has been expanded to accommodate 4,128 spectators. In addition, a new access on a temporary roundabout at the Alpine Road was built to relieve the residents. The previous access via the Prötschhofstraße is therefore on match days - except for neighbors - locked.

In addition to the main field the Unterberg Arena has a betting game suitable training ground and an artificial turf field.
