Urban Franc

Urban Franc ( born June 5, 1975 in Bled ) is a former Slovenian ski jumper.

Francesco made ​​his international debut at the World Cup competition in Planica on March 29, 1992. Already in his second World Cup competition at the beginning of the 1992/93 season he was able to jump on the podium for the first time and reached the second place in Falun, Sweden. It remained the highest individual finish of his career. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1993 in Falun, he reached on the large hill and 46th in the normal hill 47th. At the World Cup team jumping on March 27, 1993, he was able to occupy the 3rd place at the end with the team with Robert Meglič, Matjaž Zupan and Samo Gostisa. It was followed two years in which he could rarely jump into the top 20. It was only on 19 February 1995 he was able to achieve a top 10 ranking with a 7th place again in ski flying in Vikersund. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1995 Canadian Thunder Bay he reached on the normal hill the 43rd and on the large hill 27th place. In the Ski Flying World Championships 1996 in Tauplitz / Bad Mitterndorf he reached the 4th place next to a bronze medal two times. It was followed two years in which he rarely reached a position beyond the top 30. In the Ski Flying World Championships 1998 in Oberstdorf, he reached the 24th place on 25 January 1998. Francesco was admitted to the Slovenian squad for the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, reaching there on the normal hill the 42nd place. After another mediocre results ended Franc his career after the World Cup jumping in Planica on March 21, 1999. In his last competition he could again win the World Cup points and reached at the end of the 27th place.
