Vikersund

Vikersund is a town with 2,529 inhabitants ( 2006) in the municipality in the province Buskerud Modum in southern Norway. It is the main town and administrative headquarters of the municipality.

She is known for her ski jump, the Vikersundbakken that is regularly used for World Cup show jumping and ski flying world championships. There is also the Heggen kirke, a stone church dating back to 1200, which was restored in 1878.

The Krøderbanen is now a heritage railway which travels 26 km from Vikersund Krøderen. Construction began in 1870. Operation in 1872 and incorporated maintained runs regularly until 1985 by the Norges Statsbaner ( NSB).
