Urbano José Allgayer

José Urbano Allgayer ( born March 16, 1924 in Lajeado, Rio Grande do Sul ) is a Brazilian Bishop Emeritus of Passo Fundo.

Life

José Urbano Allgayer received on 10 December 1950, the ordination.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on February 5, 1974 Titular Bishop of Tunnuna and auxiliary bishop in Porto Alegre. The Archbishop of Porto Alegre, Alfredo Cardinal Vicente Scherer, donated to him on 24 March of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Alberto Frederico Etges, Bishop of Santa Cruz do Sul, and Nei Paulo Moretto, Bishop of Cruz Alta.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 4 February 1982 as Bishop of Passo Fundo. On 19 May 1999, John Paul II accepted his resignation due to age.
