Urs Imboden

Urs Imboden ( born January 7, 1975 in Santa Maria in the Munster, Grisons ) is a retired Swiss ski racer. He specializes in the slalom discipline and launched from 2006 to 2011 for Moldova.

Biography

His career began in Imboden in the Swiss national team. On January 19, 1997, he debuted in the World Cup, at the Lauberhorn in Wengen slalom. The first World Cup points he won on January 28, 1998 in 25th place in Aspen. He scored his best result on 19 November 2000 at the slalom in Park City. Imboden was able to establish itself near the top of the world, but also had numerous failures recorded. His biggest success was the fifth place in the slalom at the Olympic Winter Games 2002. During the European Cup season 2003, he was also in the discipline rating fifth.

As a result, Imboden's performance decreased continuously. Swiss Ski divided it into lower cadres and finally set him free. Then he took as his teammate Christophe Roux at the Moldovan citizenship and launched from the World Cup season 2006/ 07 for Moldova. On 30 January 2007, Imboden was the first time classify as Moldovans in the Top 30, but failed due to its large residue World Cup points. At the 2007 World Championships in Åre he went to eleventh place in the slalom.

In the 2008 /09 season Imboden drew attention to himself by his constant performances. At the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isere Imboden placed ninth in the slalom. Best result in 2010/11 season was an eleventh place in Adelboden.

In April 2011, Imboden announced his retirement from professional sports. He will be working as a trainer at the Sports High School in Davos.
