The USS Bunker Hill ( CG -52) Guided Missile Cruiser is a United States Navy and is a member of the Ticonderoga class.

History

Construction

The construction of the vessel took place at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi, the Bunker Hill was named after the Battle of 1775. The ship was the first unit of the class with the Mk 41 Vertical Launching System.

Office hours

After the commissioning of the Bunker Hill crossed the Panama Canal and took in July 1987 their first use in part. This led the escort as belonging to the Iowa - class battleship USS Missouri ( BB -63 ) in the Persian Gulf, where they should ensure the safe passage of cargo ships. The next ride was from use of Yokosuka, Japan, the Bunker Hill was now escorting the USS Midway ( CV-41 ) listed aircraft carrier battle group.

As of November 1990, the Bunker Hill took part in the Second Gulf War. They acted as command ship for air defense and fired cruise missiles on Iraq from. Later they also helped in monitoring the southern no-fly zone in Operation Southern Watch.

In March 1996, the Bunker Hill took part with the carrier battle group led by the USS Nimitz (CVN -68 ) on the observation of the situation in the Formosastraße after the People's Republic of China had announced and conducted missile tests near the island of Taiwan.

As of 1998, the Bunker Hill in searches of cargo ships took part to enforce the embargo against Iraq, they also served as escort of the USS Tarawa ( LHA - 1) during relief operations against East Timor.

In early 2007, the Bunker Hill with the USS Ramage (DDG -61) was involved in the Task Force 150 under British administration, which provided for safety off the east coast of Africa, especially the Horn of Africa. The Bunker Hill was between March 2008 and February 2009 on an extensive modernization at the shipyard. Early 2010, the Bunker Hill was sent to the USS Carl Vinson (CVN -70) side off the coast of Haiti, where they supported the humanitarian efforts of the United States after the devastating earthquake. In December 2010, the next use of the journey began at the Carl Vinson page in Asian waters, the end of 2011 was followed by another.
