USS Coronado (LCS -4 ) is a Littoral Combat Ship the United States Navy and is part of the Independence - class to. The ship was designed by the General Dynamics consortium. LCS -4 is the third ship in the U.S. Navy, which was named after the Californian city of Coronado.

History

The contract to build the Coronado was awarded Alabama on May 1, 2009 Austal USA in Mobile,. On 17 December 2009, the keel laying took place, the ship ran aground on January 10, 2012 from stack.

USS Coronado was taken on January 14, 2012 during a ceremony in Mobile Bay by Susan Keith in operation, the daughter of Eleanor Ring, which had baptized the previous ship of that name in 1966. The USS Coronado was put into service on 5 April 2014 and stationed in San Diego.
