The USS Hué City (CG- 66) is a guided missile cruiser of the United States Navy and is a member of the Ticonderoga class. It was named after the Battle of Hue during the Vietnam war.

History

CG -66 was commissioned in 1987 and 1989 laid the keel. Shipyard Ingalls Shipbuilding was. There, the cruiser was launched in 1990 and was christened by Mrs. Jo Ann Cheatham in the name of Hué City. The commissioning took place in September 1991.

1993, Hué City ran out the first time, they protected the USS Theodore Roosevelt ( CVN -71) on their use in the Mediterranean. There, the group participated in Operation Deny Flight. 1995 oversaw the Hué City at the Roosevelt side -fly zones over Iraq ( Operation Southern Watch). After a trip to the Baltic 1996 1997 a further transfer to the Mediterranean followed, but this time on the USS John F. Kennedy ( CV 67) page. 1999 drove the cruiser an exercise in the Baltic Sea.

2000 was the Hué City flagship during exercise UNITAS in the Caribbean. Immediately after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, she protected the USS George Washington ( CVN -73) before the New York coast. Then began a use with the Kennedy as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in March 2002.

In 2004, the cruiser in the exercise Northern Eagle 2004 in part with the Russian Navy. 2006 secured the Hué City in one of the USS Trenton (LPD -14 ) guided small group use the sea lanes off the Horn of Africa. They also secured the evacuation of American civilians from Lebanon. After participating in Fleet Week New York, the cruiser moved back East of Africa and in the Persian Gulf, this time with the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN -75). Beginning of 2010 was the Hué City from where the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN -69) page. The aim of the trip is the Middle East, where the battle group supported the U.S. forces in Iraq and the fight against pirates off Somalia. In June 2012, the cruiser moved again to the Dwight D. Eisenhower page to the Mediterranean and Arabian waters.

According to Jane 's Information Group, the ship in fiscal year 2014 is to be made under savings from service.
