The USS Stockdale (DDG -106 ) is a destroyer in the United States Navy and is one of the Arleigh Burke - class. Patron is Vice Admiral James Stockdale, who fought in Vietnam and was awarded a total of 26 times.
History
DDG -106 was commissioned in 2002. The keel of the destroyer took place in August 2006, is Shipyard Bath Iron Works. The launch took place in early 2008, the launching ceremony on May 10. Godmother was Stockdale's granddaughter, Elizabeth Eiseman Stockdale. The transfer to the U.S. Navy took place in late 2008, the commissioning on April 18, 2009 in Port Hueneme, California. The Stockdale was stationed in the Pacific.
In December 2010, the first use of the drive destroyer began in the Middle East. There, the Stockdale operated under the National Missile Defense and on the side of the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN -70).
