Vaikkojoki River

BW

The Vaikkojoki is a river in the Finnish North Karelia and North Savo landscapes. It has its origin in the lake Vaikkojärvi on the territory of the municipality Juuka. From there it flows in a predominantly southerly direction through a series of small lakes. Larger lakes at its river are Kärenjärvi, Vihtajärvi and Saarijärvi.

Finally, the Vaikkojoki flows approximately 50 kilometers and a height difference of 80 meters in the municipality Kaavi into the lake Kaavinjärvi. This flows from the lake to Rikkavesi Juojärvi. Thus, the Vaikkojoki forms a tributary of the iso- Kalla and Saimaa lake systems.

The river is ideal for canoeing.
