Val- de -Travers

Val- de -Travers is a municipality in the same district ( District du Val- de -Travers ) of the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland.

It was formed on 1 January 2009 from the merger of Boveresse, Buttes, Couvet, Fleurier, Les Bayard, Môtiers, Noiraigue, Saint- Sulpice and Travers. The seat of government is located in the former county seat Môtiers.

Geography

The municipality occupies the eastern part of the Val de Travers, which is drained by the Areuse.

Neighboring municipalities of Val- de -Travers are La Côte- aux- Fées Les Verrieres La Brevine, Les Ponts- de -Martel, bread Plamboz, Brot-Dessous, Boudry and Gorgier in the canton of Neuchâtel, further Fontaines- sur -Grandson, Fiez, Provence, Tévenon and Mauborget in the Canton of Vaud, and Hauterive- la- mouth and Les Allies in neighboring France.

History

On 3 April 2007, the municipality parliaments have voted unanimously for the merger of the eleven municipalities of the district of Val -de- Travers. The presentation about the merger was submitted to the voters on June 17, 2007. Since the communities Les Verrières and La Côte- aux- Fées had opposed the merger, the merger did not take place for the time being. A new project that has a fusion of the other nine municipalities under this name to the target was implemented on 1 January 2009.

Legislation is the conseil général (German General ), who is elected by voters every four years, most recently on May 13, 2012 On behalf of the Legislature from 2012 to 2016 he composed as follows:. FDP 17 seats, SP 14 seats, SVP 6 seats, GPS 2 seats and 2 seats POP.

The executive branch is formed by the five-member conseil communal ( municipal dt ). He is also elected for four years by the Legislature. Currently, it is composed of three representatives of the FDP and two Social Democrats.

Health service

In the district Couvet the public hospital with 24- hour care. It belongs to the composite Klink Hôpitaux neuchâtelois ( frz for: Neuchâtel hospitals).
