Valentin Schiedermair

Valentin Schiedermair ( born October 28, 1963 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German pianist who lives in London.

Training

Valentin Schiedermair grew up in a family with a strong preference for romantic music. His father is a law professor Hartmut Schiedermair, his mother Inge Schiedermair.

At the age of five years, Valentin Schiedermair took piano lessons from Elizabeth Bleile in Heidelberg. At age 16, he won the first prize at the piano competition Leimener and played for the first time to public audiences and on the radio. Since then, he has acquired a very large repertoire and given concerts worldwide.

At age 17, he began his musical studies with Professor Paul Dan at the Musikhochschule Heidelberg -Mannheim, taking lessons with Chopin -winning actress Halina Czerny- Stefańska and her husband Ludwig Stefanski.

At 20, he won another prize in Barcelona and was honored with a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service ( DAAD) and the Fulbright Commission in New York, where it inspired an interesting pianistic environment. Schiedermair took lessons with Gary Graffman, Vladimir Horowitz a student, with whom he worked, important parts of the classical and romantic repertoire.

Schiedermair continued his studies at the Academy in Vienna with Hans Kann and continued later at Peter Wall Fish at the Royal College of Music in London. Master classes with the virtuoso Shura Cherkassky, Bruno Leonardo Gelber, Miecyslaw Horoszowski and many other completed his education. Since then Schiedermair is regularly worldwide concert tours and plays a recording.

Profession

Since the 1990s Schiedermair is an internationally active pianist. He has given numerous master classes in Europe and Asia. Its range spans from secret of piano timbres, about the sense of rhythm to the many aspects of the musical tradition ( Frédéric Chopin, Robert Schumann, Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Liszt and others).

Schiedermair is a frequent guest at international festivals and completed tours. His live concert recordings and studio recordings fascinated by virtuosity and romantic sensuality.

With its open kind to Schiedermair spent countless historical and biographical background of the scores, which he interpreted.

He himself puts it in the following way out, "My dream is the legacy of the great pianists and composers continue to carry and intensify this tonally heritage and interpretative. My main goal is to revive the piano recital as a cultural event. Too many pianists bored the audience today with their supposedly superior technology to find without a self- interpretive approach. As a German pianist you have the unique opportunity to delve into the minds of the German composer. In particular, I sit down to closely examine the cultural, historical and literary backgrounds of the scores. Communicating this to the audience in short introductions, is an integral part of my concerts. "

Valentin Schiedermairs recent Asia - he toured fifteen cities in China, Taiwan and Singapore. Like last year, the last concert in Taipei ended after five encores and the Shenzhen University awarded him for his contribution to the musical exchange between Germany and China as a visiting professor. In 2012, he played for the national holiday on 3 October in the plenary hall of the German Bundestag in Bonn.
