Valhalla is a Danish comic book adaptation of the drawn by Peter Madsen Danish Comics Walhalla, shot in 1986 in Denmark.

Action

The siblings Tjelfe and Røskva live with their parents peacefully in the realm of Midgard, the realm of humans, ask the two gods Thor and Loki for shelter until one day. After all served at dinner the god of thunder man one of his two goats that eat you and the next day may bring them to life again. He warns people not to break a bone. But Loki persuaded the boy Tjelfe it still do.

As Thor gives the goat the next morning with his magic hammer back to life, the animal has a broken leg. Enraged, he committed Tjelfe to serve Him in Valhalla, the realm of the gods, to settle his debt. When the two gods set out with the boys, also Tjelfes sister Røskva creeps on Thor's chariot. Since it is only discovered during the trip, she accompanied the three to Valhalla.

But in the realm of the gods, the children do not expect any adventure, but only a lot of homework in Thor's castle. You have to clean, cook and take care of Thor's children. One day Loki brings a dwarf giant called quark from the underworld to visit. The children soon make friends with the creature, which is always hungry and only engages mischief. It does not take long to be sent to Quark because of his jokes back into the Underdark Utgard. Thus begins a great adventure for the siblings.

Experience the battle between Thor and Utgardloki. First, Loki is to win against a resident Utgards an eating contest. He loses because his opponent is the fire that consumed the food and the trough.

Then Thor to pick up a cat from the ground. Since this is the Midgard Serpent, he will not make it. He should empty the Horn of Utgardloki in a train, because this horn is associated with the sea, also fails this bet. However, the amount of water that is drinking Thor here is so immense that it creates the ebb. Also Tjelfe to commence a contest: a run, he can not win because he is running against his own shadow.

At last Thor wants a fight. An old lady appears. And as with any bet recognizes the little boy as the only, that it is again a trick: The old lady is the age, the Thor can not resist, which apparently dies.

In these points, the film is based closely on the traditions of mythology.

Then Thor and Loki have to take the small quark again. Then Loki, however, a chicken enchanted, so that it looks like Quark and can look like the chicken, they can leave behind them.

However Utgardloki noticed the magic too late and curd thus remains with him.

Production

The film was a milestone for the Danish Cartoons, despite having received mixed reviews. The production had problems with changing the creative team and financial difficulties. At the end of the production cost 30 million Danish kroner ( approximately 4 million euros), the film grossed never. It was produced not a sequel. Only Swan Film Production produced six short films that showed quarks adventure. It had been planned more short films, but the studio went bust in the financial problems of Walhalla.
