This Valley would be the oldest town in the northern part of the district Miesbach, if not the oldest settlement in the entire county. The copy of a Roman milestone ( original in the Bavarian State Archaeological Collection ) points to the importance of the village, which once could underline by a corresponding castle its power. Valley was before 1800 seat of the Upper and Lower Court of the county of the same name. It was about 150 years the Earl of Rheinstein and Tattenbach until it was taken over by the Counts of Arco on Oberköllnbach in 1821.
