Vangelis Alexandris

Evangelos Alexandris (Greek Ευάγγελος Αλεξανδρής, born February 2, 1951 in Greece ) is a retired Greek professional basketball player and current coach.

Playing career

His career began at Alexandris Anagannisi Thessaloniki, before he was active for the two top clubs Aris and PAOK afterwards. With Aris he could 1979 1984 to win the championship and the national cup competition with PAOK.

Between 1970 and 1983 Alexandris was regularly in the squad of the Greek national team and participated among others in the European Championship 1983. In 13 years he came to 73 inserts and scored 345 points.

Coaching career

His coaching career began in 1993 at Alexandris AE Larisa. Since then he has worked exclusively in Greece and trained a number of major clubs such as Aris, PAOK and Iraklis Thessaloniki and AEK Athens Marousi or GS. His greatest successes were in addition to the Greek Cup (1995 with PAOK) winning the Saporta Cup ( 2001 Marousi ) and the FIBA Champions Cup (2003 with Aris). Alexandris was thus the only one to date Greek coach of the two European titles won.
