Vanishing Point (Band)

Vanishing Point is an Australian Power and progressive metal band from Melbourne that was founded in the early 1990s under the name Eye.

History

The band was founded in the early 1990s by guitarist Tommy Vucur, drummer Jack Lukic and bassist Joe Del Mastro under the name Eye. Singer Silvio Massaro and keyboardist Pep Sammartino were added mid -1990s, and the band changed its name to Vanishing Point. Shortly thereafter, Andrew Whitehead came as second guitarist to the band. The group began work on their first album and took In Thought on in 1996. The album was released in Europe on the German label Angular Records in 1997. The following year, a re-release appeared in Australia in Metal Warriors Records. On the album, a bonus song called Inner Peace was included. In the song the new guitarist Chris Porcianko, who had now been replaced Andrew Whitehead was heard. In 1999, the band appeared as the opening act for Yngwie Malmsteen before keyboardist Pep Sammartino left the band and was replaced by Danny Olding. In 2000, a gig at the Wacken Open Air was followed later in the same year appeared the second album Tangled in Dream in Australia for Metal Warriors Records and internationally on Limb Music. In late 2001, followed by a tour of Europe together with Gamma Ray and Sonata Arctica, with Olding also played keyboards for Gamma Ray. In 2002, the band returned to Australia and made a tour with Edguy. Shortly after the tour was completed, Olding left the band. In 2003, the band was working on another new album and came barely live on. In the same year Leonard Kopilas came as the new keyboard player to fill. However, since the band got into disputes with Metal Warriors, the activity of the band first came to a halt.

In 2005, the band performed for the first time live on and played for the second time on the Australian Metal for the Brain. The festival was followed by a performance with Nightwish. The new album Embrace the Silence was released mid-year international at Dockyard 1. In Australia, the album was released by Riot! Records. Towards the end of Joe Del Mastro announced his departure known and was replaced by Steve Cox. During 2006, the band played concerts with Black Label Society and Gamma Ray. On December 7, Jack Lukic left the band, the 22 days later Cox followed. As a new bassist Adrian Alimic joined the band, Christian Nativo took over the post of the drummer and Jake Lowe occupied the post of keyboardist. In May 2007 concerts followed with Dragonforce in Australia and New Zealand. The next album The Fourth Season was released on August 24, 2007 at Dockyard 1 In February 2008, the band played shows with Iron Maiden with a performance in Perth and two concerts in Melbourne. In the same month, the band also played shows with Black Majesty and Helloween. In July, the group performed as the opening act for Joe Satriani on at two concerts in Melbourne. The end of September the band played gigs in Europe with Sonata Arctica and Pagan's Mind. During the tour, the band worked on the follow-up album. After the group had returned to Australia, the band continued to work on the new album, which continued the band in 2009. In 2010, Tommy Vucur, Adrian Alimic and Jake Lowe left the band. In 2011, bassist Simon Best and guitarist Scott Griffith came to the band and work on the album continued in February. Later, Scott Griffith left the band again. End of May 2012 came James Maier as a new second guitarist for the band. In late June, the album was almost finished, so the band was planning a release in late 2012.

Style

The band plays progressive power metal and can be compared with Dream Theater and the recent works of Savatage.
