Vajra is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Lüganuse ( Luganuse vald ). It is located in Ida -Viru county (East Wierland ) in northeastern Estonia.

Description and History

The street village has 141 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2012). Located a few meters from the Baltic Sea on the road between the Estonian capital Tallinn and the Russian city of Saint Petersburg.

The town was first mentioned in 1241. However, he is much older. Archaeologists have uncovered in the fields seven prehistoric cultural stones.

Vajra was previously known mainly for its Tsarist post station on the route between Tallinn and St. Petersburg. The main building was completed shortly after the Russian conquest of the Baltic states in 1728. In addition, there were two guest houses and carriage houses, stables and storage.
