Vat Phou

Location

The temple area Wat Phou Champasak and the cultural landscape are one of two World Heritage Sites in Laos. Wat Phou Champasak and the city are located in the southern Lao province of Champasak. Champasak is located on the Mekong and Wat Phou in the immediate vicinity at the foot of the mountain Lingamparvata.

Champasak is connected via a ferry across the Mekong to the National Road 13 on the left side of the Mekong and thus to Pakse. The expansion of the dirt road on the right side to the Mekong Mekong bridge Pakses is decided. Wat Phou Champasak can be reached via a paved road.

Composition

World Heritage Site includes the former royal city Chamasak, historical remains of the beginning of the road to Angkor Wat, archaeological sites and several temples. The most important part of the World Heritage Site is the Wat Phou.
