Vedat Dalokay

Vedat Dalokay ( born November 10, 1927 in Elazig; † 21 March 1991 Kırıkkale ) was a Turkish politician and architect. He was from 1973 to 1977 mayor of the Turkish capital Ankara.

Dalokays most famous buildings are Islamic religious buildings, such as the designed in the 1970s and opened in 1984 Faisal Mosque in Islamabad, which is considered one of the most modern and largest mosques in the world, and later discarded first plan for the Kocatepe Mosque, the largest mosque in Ankara.

His own childhood shaped by the narrative sister Schako and Kolo the goat: a childhood in Turkey in 1998 translated into German and positively received by critics.
