Velká Bukovina

Velka Bukovina ( German big buck ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is 14 kilometers south-east of Decin and belongs to Okres Decin.

Geography

The Waldhufendorf extends to the north of the Bohemian Uplands along the creek Bukovinský Potok ( Bockenbach ). North-east rises the Rozmezí (420 m ) in the east of Špičák (412 m ) southeast of the Dvorsky Kopec ( Hofel mountain, 537 m) in the south of Dubový vrch ( 402m ), west of the Kotel ( Fuchsberg, 395 m) and in the northwest the Bukovinský vrch ( goat mountain, 444 m).

Neighboring towns are Malá Bukovina and Karlovka in the north, Nový Oldřichov and Mistrovice in the northeast, Nová Ves and Volfartice in the east, Radeč the southeast, Slunce, Dolni Police, Maly Šachov and Žandov in the south, Stary Šachov the southwest, Františkov nad Ploučnicí in the west and Benešov nad Ploučnicí and Dolni Habartice in the northwest.

History

The first mention of Bockven place in the year 1385. 1454 the village belonged to the estate of John of Wartenberg, who had the goods purchased in 1428 by Heinrich Berka of Dube on Wildenstein. The village belonged to the Sandauer goods that have been pledged in 1538 to Přibík and Peter Thein Thein to. Gepfarrt the village was until the Thirty Years' War to the parish of St.. Bartholomew in Sandau and then until 1658 the parish in Oberpolitz. In 1633 the troops of Albrecht von Wallenstein moved through the village. Old Schokau broke up in 1877 going on, and from 1914 also made Karlsthal own community. 1899, the municipality had 1077 inhabitants.
