Velká Jesenice

Velka Jesenice ( German Jesenitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located five kilometers south-west of Česká Skalice and belongs to Okres Náchod.

Geography

Velka Jesenice belongs to the recreation area of the reservoir " Rozkoš " and is located not far from the south-western shore. Neighboring towns are in the north Říkov, northeast Česká Skalice and Spyta, in the southeast and southwest Městec and Nahořany Volovka.

History

Velka Jesenice was first mentioned in writing in 1350. It was then owned by the Bochovský of Bochov who sold it in 1495 to the Czech national captain Nicholas Trček of Lipa, which already owned the adjacent rule Opočno. Velka Jesenice 1524-1654 was recorded in the Czech Landtafel. Later owners included the Straka of Nedabylice and Panský of Střezetice. Later Velka Jesenice was connected to the 1848 with the reign Opočno. Following the lifting of patrimonial Velka Jesenice became an independent municipality in 1848.

Districts

The municipality consists of the villages Velka Jesenice, Veselice and Volovka.
