Veľký Blh

Velky Blh (Hungarian Nagybalog or Vámosbalog ) is a municipality in the south- central Slovakia, with 1212 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) and is located in Okres Rimavská Sobota, kraj a circle of Banskobystrický.

Geography

The municipality is located in the rolling countryside of the boiler Juhoslovenská kotlina subunit Rimavská kotlina on the river Blh. North of the village rises the hill country Revúcka Highlands, part of the Slovak Ore Mountains. The center is located at an altitude of 216 meters above and is 12 kilometers from Rimavská Sobota.

History

Today's church was built in 1943 by the merger of places Nižný Blh (Hungarian Alsóbalog ) and Vyšný Blh (formerly " Vyšný Balog "; Hungarian Felsőbalog ).

Originally some place is first mentioned in the 13th century writing and lay in the shade of the nearby castle Blh to the manor until the 17th century, the area belonged.
