Veľký Krtíš District

The Okres Veľký Krtíš is an administrative unit in the south of Slovakia with 46 462 inhabitants ( 2004) and an area of 849 km ².

Historically, the district is one half of the former Nógrád ( east and north ), the other half in the county of Hont ( West, see also List of historic counties of Hungary ).

2001 was 27.45 % of the population of the district to the Hungarian minority in Slovakia.
