Venesat-1

(Also known as Simón Bolívar ) Venesat -1 is the first satellite of Venezuela. It was developed by the Chinese China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, based on the type of Dong Fang Hong 4 and is the first that China has built for a Latin American country. It is a communications satellite operating in a geosynchronous orbit and the television and telecommunication services to offer in Venezuela. The total price was agreed with China to 325 million euros.

The launch took place on October 29, 2008 at 16:53 UTC clock with a Chinese LM -3B from the launch site LA -2 of Xichang Cosmodrome.

Venesat -1 is operated by the Venezuelan Science and Technology Ministry. He has twelve C- and 14 Ku -band transponders, has a mass of 5100 kg and an expected life of 15 years.
