Venla Niemi

Venla Heikintytär Niemi (born 10 July 1990 Tampere ) is a Finnish orienteer.

Niemi won the 2008 Gothenburg in the middle distance world championship of juniors as well as long distance silver at the European Youth Championships. In 2011 she ran for the first time on the assets side and came at their first World Cup appearance in the French Savoie département on the 16th place in the sprint. 2012 was followed by a 10th place in the European Championship sprint and a 10th and a 6th place finish at the single starts at the World Championships 2012 in Lausanne. 2013 she won at the World Championships in Finland the bronze medal in the sprint, behind Simone Niggli in Switzerland and Annika Billstam from Sweden. Together with Anni- Maija Fincke and Minna Kauppi won with the Finnish relay behind Norway a silver medal.

Niemi is owned by the club Tampere Pyrintö to her hometown Tampere. 2011, 2012 and 2013 won Pyrintös Frauenstaffel with Saila Kinni, Anni- Maija Fincke and Niemi, the Finnish Championship Season. In 2010 she won at the Venlojen viesti, 2011 Tiomila.
