The name comes from the Slavic languages and means " faith, confidence, trust ." He is one of the three named after the Christian virtues names ( see also Lyubov and Nadezhda ). All three are translations of the Greek name pistis ( "faith", the Latin fides ), Elpis ( "Hope", Latin spes ) and agape ( "love", the Latin caritas ) that came with the worship of the saints of the same name to Russia; the mother of the legendary saint was Sophia ( " Wisdom ", Latin sapientia ). In addition, Vera exists in Latin meaning " true " or " the truth ". The masculine form Verus is assigned as the name in ancient times.
