Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University

The University of Versailles, actually University of Versailles -Saint -Quentin -en- Yvelines (French Université de Versailles -Saint -Quentin -en- Yvelines, UVSQ ), is a university in the Paris area in France. She has several locations in the Yvelines department as well as a medicine pole in Garches in the department of Hauts -de- Seine.

History

In 1985, the University of Paris- Nanterre established a branch office in Saint- Quentin -en- Yvelines, which became the Faculty of Law, Economics, languages ​​and humanities and social sciences. Two years later at Versailles, a branch of the University Pierre and Marie Curie and a technology center with an Institut Universitaire de Technologies ( IUT ) and research laboratories in the region, first in Velizy, in the following years in Rambouillet and Mantes- la- Jolie. The University of Versailles -St- Quentin -en- Yvelines, which was established on 22 July 1991, combines all these facilities.

2002 Institut Universitaire Professionnel (IUP ) was also set up for art, science, culture and multimedia, and 2002, the Medical Cluster in Garches was integrated into the UVSQ. This has since sites in eight communities and in the academic year 2002/03, 13,372 students.
