Victor Ciocâltea

Victor Ciocâltea ( born January 16, 1932 in Bucharest, † September 10, 1983 in Manresa, Spain) was a Romanian chess player. 1957 FIDE awarded him the title of International Master, 1978, he was Grand Master.

Life

Victor Ciocâltea won the Romanian Cup in the years 1952, 1959, 1961, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1975 and 1979. He played in eleven Chess Olympiads from 1956 to 1982 for Romania, but he was able to win his match against Bobby Fischer in Varna in 1962. He participated in four tournaments zone, with his best result of the split 5 - 7th Place in Vrnjačka Banja was 1972.
