Víctor Diogo

Víctor Diogo, full name Víctor Hugo Diogo Silva ( born April 19, 1958 in Treinta y Tres ) is a former Uruguayan football player.

Association

The 1.79 meter tall defender Diogo was in the years 1976 and 1978 to 1984 the squad Peñarols in La Liga on. During this period he was was with the Aurinegros in the years 1978, 1979, 1981 and 1982, a total of four Uruguayan champion. He also won with Peñarol 1982, the Copa Libertadores and the Intercontinental Cup. In 1983, he reached with his teammates again the finals at the Copa. However, Diogos local Startelfeinsätze did nothing to prevent the defeat against Gremio. In the playoffs Diogo was in the starting lineup in each case. From 1984 to 1989 he played for Palmeiras São Paulo in Brazil.

National

Diogo belonged to the squad of the Uruguayan U -20 team, which in Venezuela won the title at the U-20 South American Championship 1977. In the same year, he finished with the team at the Junior World Cup in Tunisia in 1977 to fourth place. Also in the squad of Celeste he counted two years earlier at the Pan American Games in 1975. Diogo was also a member of the senior national team of Uruguay, for which he completed between September 20, 1979 and June 13, 1986 34 internationals. He scored an international goal. Diogo played for the national team in the Copa América 1979. He won the Celeste at the Mundialito 1980/81 and in the Copa América 1983. Moreover Diogo took part in the Uruguay World Cup 1986. There he came in in all three group games used.
