Victor Heerman

Victor Heerman ( born August 27, 1893 in Surrey, United Kingdom, † 3 November 1977 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American film director and screenwriter of British descent.

Life

Victor Heerman and his three siblings grew up without a father. His mother was an employee in the costume store at the theater. Around the turn of the century, she moved with her ​​children to the United States and took a position as Chefkostümbildnerin with David Belasco. Heerman moved to Hollywood in 1911 to work in the film industry. Wrote for Mack Sennett and he directed two-act.

When Victor Heerman with Douglas Fairbanks sr. worked in Arizona, he met Sarah Y. Mason, whom he married in 1920. From this marriage two children were born. The couple worked primarily as a writing team. Together they received at the Academy Awards 1934 Oscar for best adapted screenplay for Four sisters.
