Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors is the first solo album by Scottish musician Fish. It was released in January 1990 with EMI.

Creation and publication

Fish and Marillion had separated in November 1988 due to musical differences and Fish retired to Haddington. Fish, however, had plans for a solo career in which he was assisted by Mickey Simmonds. A first appearance was followed in October 1989 with Simmonds on keyboards, Frank Usher and Robin Boult on guitar, Steve Brzezicki as a bassist and drummer Mark Brzezicki. Simmonds, Usher and Mark Brzezicki were among other well-known musicians (among Hal Lindes, Janick Gers, John Giblin, Davy Spillane, Aly Bain ) also participated in the recording of Fish's solo debut. It was produced by John Kelly and appeared on LP, Picture Disc, MC, and CD; a piece was going to find only on MC and CD. A remastered CD version with bonus tracks ( demos and B-sides ) came in 1997 on the market.

The cover was designed by Mark Wilkinson, from which came even the cover of the recent Marillion albums.
