Ville Kantee

Ville Valtteri Kantee ( born December 8, 1978 in Joutseno ) is a former Finnish ski jumper and assistant coach of the Finnish national ski jumping team.

Career

He began at the age of eight years with the ski jumping. In 1994 he moved because of better training conditions in Eastern Finland Kuopio and started there for the club this city, the Puijon Hiihtoseura.

In 1996 he played in the Norwegian Lillehammer his first World Cup competition and also won at first World Cup points. He was in his career two single World Cup victories (1999 in Kuopio, 2001 in Willingen ) gain, also two second and third places; twice he won with the Finnish team ( Willingen 2001, Lahti 2000). Kantee was nominated three times for a Nordic World Ski Championships 1997 in Trondheim (Norway ), 1999 in Ramsau ( Austria ) and 2001 in Lahti (Finland). The first time he came, however, not used. In Ramsau he failed to win a medal in an individual he reached the 13th place ( normal hill ) and the 30th place ( large hill ). In the team competition on the large hill, the Finnish team ended up in 4th place. Two years later he improved in Lahti on the normal hill on the 10th place on the large hill he landed in ninth place one further forward. In the team competition, he won the Finnish team at the normal as well as on the large hill each silver.

His whole career was plagued by over painful back problems. This forced him in 2004, after the third disc swelling, the career end at the age of just 25 years.

From the winter 2006 /07 Kantee worked as Skitechniker for the Finnish national ski jumping team, and was from 2007 to 2009 in addition ski jumping coach of young talent in Kuopio. His goal is to become a coach, he came closer than he began after his move to Lahti in the summer of 2009 to support the training of the ski jumpers at the local base. After he increasingly allowed to take over the duties of a coach in the national team, he was in the spring of 2010, finally, nominated as assistant coach Pekka Niemelä, the new coach of the Finnish national ski jumping team.

Kantees great passion next to the skiing is the music since early childhood. He sings and plays guitar in the rock band The Croesus, which also includes Jussi Hautamäki, Olli Happonen and Jarkko Saapunki belong.
