The Rajongemeinde Vilnius ( Lithuanian: Vilniaus rajono savivaldybė ) is one of the largest among the 60 self-governing communities of Lithuania. It surrounds the city municipality Vilnius and thus the Lithuanian capital to more than 4/5.

Population

Covering an area of ​​2129.15 km ² 96 484 people live. Between the world wars, the area belonged to Poland. Even today, the Polish minority in Lithuania in the region, the majority of the population.
