Vitalie GruÅŸac

Vitaly Grusac ( born September 11, 1977 in Grimăncăuţi, Rajon Briceni, Moldavian SSR ) is a retired Moldovan boxer. Grusac was bronze medalist of the 2000 Olympic Games, he also took part in the Olympic Games in 2004 and 2008.

Career

His first international competition contested Grusac at the 1996 European Championships, difference here, however, in the light welterweight ( -63.5 kg ) starting in the first fight against Francis Barrett, Ireland ( 7:6 ). Something similar happened to him at the World Championships in 1997, when he welterweight ( -67 kg ) to a win over Kamran Kabinejad, Sweden ( RSC 5 ), in the second battle against Guillermo Saputo, Argentina ( 11:8 ), lost. At the European Championships in 1998 he did not also beyond the quarter-finals. His opponent was time Dsindsiruk Serhiy, Ukraine (5-0 ). However, in the following year he reached the finals of the Olympic qualifying tournament in Sevastopol and thus qualified for the Olympic Games 2000.

In the games Grusac celebrated the biggest success of his career. After victories of the Second Pan-African Games of 1999 Aegawj Tsegasellase, Ethiopia ( w. above), Sherzod Husanov, Uzbekistan ( 13:7 ) and the European champion of 2000 Bülent Ulusoy, Turkey ( 19:10), he reached the semifinals, which he against Sergei Dotsenko, Ukraine ( 17:8 ), lost and thus won the Olympic bronze medal.

2001 reached Grusac at the World Championships after victories and Others v Mariusz Cendrowski, Poland ( 17:7 ), the quarter-final, which he lost against Tony Thompson, USA ( 29:14 ). After his third participation in the Olympic Games Grusac ended his career.
