Viva Forever

July 20, 1998

Viva Forever is a pop song by the British pop group Spice Girls from their second album, Spiceworld. It was the first single from the album after Geri Halliwell left the group. In the music video Halliwell however, is still to be seen.

Music Video

The music video for Viva Forever was shot by Oscar winner Steve Box of Aardman Animations for the video five small figures of the band members were created, which were animated using stop-motion process.

Chart positions and awards

Viva Forever was barely promoted, since the four Spice Girls at the time of publication in America were on tour. Much attention was given to single only by the departure of Geri Halliwell. The song was sold 277,000 times in the first week after publication. In the UK, the single held for two weeks in first place of the charts and went platinum.

Trivia

When the television channel MTV adopted from the German Free TV January 1, 2011, the station was finally a special program entitled Thank you for the Music. The last song that was played was "Viva Forever"; a reference to the channel VIVA, which belongs to Viacom, such as MTV, and continues to be seen on free TV.
