Vladimir Dolgikh

Vladimir Ivanovich Dolgich (Russian: Владимир Иванович Долгих; born December 5, 1924 in Ilanskaja (now Ilanski ), Krasnoyarsk Territory ) was a Soviet and is a Russian politician.

Dolgich was born the son of a railway worker. In 1941 he volunteered for the Red Army and took part in the Battle of Moscow. In 1943, he was discharged after a serious injury from the military. After the war he studied at the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Irkutsk, from which he graduated in 1949. He then worked at the Norilsk Eisenhüttenkombinat (now part of MMC Norilsk Nickel ), which he headed from 1958 to 1969. He later made ​​a career in the CPSU, which he joined in 1942. From 1969 to 1972 he was first secretary of the regional party committee in Krasnoyarsk and was then appointed to Moscow. He became a member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the CPSU, 1982 candidate of the Politburo of the CPSU Central Committee in 1972. Both offices he lost in 1988 when he was retired, but remained a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR (until 1989 ) and the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR (until 1990 ). In December 2011 Dolgich, who is now a member of the United Russia party, was elected to the Duma and opened on December 21, as the oldest deputy, the inaugural meeting of the new Duma.

Dolgich was twice awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor, six times with the Order of Lenin and the Order of Friendship and the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 4th class.
