Vladimir Dubrovshchik

Uladzimir Dubrouschtschyk (White Russian Уладзімір Дуброўшчык, English transcription Uladzimir Dubroushchyk, also Russian Владимир Дубровщик - Vladimir Dubrowschtschik - Vladimir Dubrovshchik, . Born January 7, 1972 in Hrodna ) is a retired Belarusian discus thrower.

1991 won Dubrouschtschyk at the Junior European Championships in the discus throw.

The European Athletics Championships 1994, he won with a 64.78 m before the Russians Dmitry Shevchenko with 64,56 m and the German Jürgen Schult with 64,18 m and thus became the first European Champion of Belarus.

In 1995 he won the silver medal behind the German Lars Riedel with 68.76 meters and his countryman Vasili Kapzjuch with 65.88 m at the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg with 65,98 m. Also he won silver at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. With 66,60 m, he was again behind Riedel with 69,40 m and 65,80 m with Kapzjuch before. In Athens at the 1997 World Cup Dubrowschtschik finished with 66.12 m in fourth place, just two inches behind the third-placed Jürgen Schult, and won in the same year at the Universiade.

At the European Championships in Budapest in 1998, he could not defend his title in 1994. With 63.96 meters he finished in sixth place. With 64,00 m he reached the seventh place at the 1999 World Cup in Seville. The same result he erwarf also with 65.13 m at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. After the 2001 season, he finished his career.

Dubrouschtschyk was Belarusian champions in the years 1993-1996 and 1999. His best jump of 69.28 meters he threw on June 3, 2000 in Minsk.
