Volhynian Voivodeship (1569–1795)

The Volhynia Voivodship ( Polish: województwo wołyńskie, Latin: Palatinatus Volhynensis ) was an administrative unit in the Kingdom of Poland - Lithuania in the area of ​​present-day Ukraine. Emerged she was from a vassal principality, which had been ruled by descendants of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas. 1566-1569 part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, she came in the wake of the Lublin Union to the Polish half of the Empire and was part of the Ruthenian lands of the province of Lesser Poland. The province existed until the Third Partition of Poland in 1795. The area came to the province of Volhynia of the Russian Empire after.
